Access to Astronomy Class ( Open Classroom-Astro )
Astronomy at the Dalton School is a college level, full year modern astronomy elective course. In a constructivist format, computers are extensively used in the course. From the home page you can see lists of software used, topics covered, image sources, web sites, etc. You can also see the course in progress. Astronomical Image Library
We're undertaking the task of indexing the wealth of astronomical images available on the Internet. To use the service, you just have to go to the URL mentioned and type the name of the object you are looking for. If our database knows where an image of this object is located, you just have to click on the resulting link(s) to obtain a picture of it. We're currently indexing approximately 15,000 images and more are being added regularly.

Echelle Reduction Manual for IRAF Users ( Lick Obs. Tech. Report #74 )
The manual describes the general IRAF packages, tasks, and parameters necessary to calibrating, extracting, and viewing data taken with echelle spectrographs. It is intended as a beginner's guide to IRAF echelle data reduction. Many task and task parameters are explained in detail and an example reduction from start to finish is presented. Specific concerns and settings for the Hamilton Echelle Spectrograph are addressed, but these apply to echelle spectrographs in general. Optimal extractions and scattered light removal techniques are addressed.

High Energy X-ray Timing Experiment ( HEXTE )
The High Energy X-ray Timing Experiment is one of 3 common-user instruments on board the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) which was launched on 1995 December 30. The HEXTE is sensitive to X-rays from 15 to 250 keV and is able to time-tag photons in this energy range to 8 microseconds.

The IMAGE PROCESSING TOOLS CD-ROM contains a huge selection of files related to the topics of image processing, file formats and documentation, format conversions, specialized image processing applications, and source code for algorithms, converters, and complete image processing systems. The disk also includes a large amount of FITS information, CCD imaging software, and specialized astronomical image processing software.

Iowa Robotic Observatory
A Consortium consisting of faculty from the Regents Universities of the State of Iowa (University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and University of Northern Iowa) have begun construction of a fully robotic Observatory for undergraduate teaching and research in astronomy and related fields. The Iowa Robotic Observatory (IRO) will consist of a fully computerized telescope and enclosure, a large format imaging CCD camera and photometric filters.
The Winer Mobile Observatory is providing a site in southeastern Arizona to maintain and operate the telescopes.

NASA Network Application and Information Center ( NAIC )
The Network Applications And Information Center (NAIC), located at Ames Research Center, was established in March 1993 to coordinate network information center (NIC) services for NASA. The NAIC mission is: (1) To facilitate a distributed system of NASA Center NICs. (2) To distribute and assist NASA users with advanced applications programs developed or supported by the ANA group. (3) To act as liaison between NASA and other government network information activities. (4) To foster the use of information protocols, standards, and procedures among NASA NICs that are conducive to quick and easy network access to online information resources. (5) To serve as a NIC of first and last resort for users at Centers without NICs and for scientists and educators coming from other networks. (6) To act as a high-level referral center for NASA information resources.
NASA's Planetary Photojournal
The Planetary Photojournal is designed to provide easy access to the press released images from various Solar System exploration programs. These are highly processed images, suitable for general viewing or publishing. Each image is shown with its original caption published at the time the image was first released. Images may be downloaded at full resolution in a variety of formats. Links to hard copy vendors are also provided.

PDS Imaging Node's Planetary Image Atlas ( PDSIMG Atlas )
The Atlas is designed to be a single interface through which you can search for, display, and download full resolution data for all planetary missions. It will eventually replace individual existing browsers. Until that time, links to the individual browsers are provided from this central location. A prototype ultra-high energy neutrino detector/obervatory located at the South Pole. RICE consists of an array of radio antennas buried deep in the ice which detect coherent Cherenkov emission from electromagnetic cascades produced as a by product of ultra-high energy neutrino interactions.
